Peamine raamat, mis siit puudu, on David Lodge'i "Väike maailm". Sama autori "Ühest kohast teise" kirjeldab ju värvikalt intellektuaalset häbimängu, kus punkte sai see, kes tunnistas üles läbilugemata teose, mida arvas ülejäänuid lugenud olevat :D

Loomulikult peaks ma enesel silmad peast häbenema eriti nende kaldkirjas raamatupealkirjade pärast, aga ma olen jõhkralt aus otsustanud olla seekord. Pealegi, enamus selliseid nice try'sid on korda saadetud perioodil "2000 aastat maailmakirjandust 3 päevaga", mil raamatuid ei loetud isegi mitte tüki-, vaid meetrikaupa. Kõik võimalused neid lugusid avastada on ju veel olemas!

Kahju, et sellesse nimekirja pole jõudnud ühtegi Pratchettit ega Gaarderit, häbemata vähe on ka Ecot ja Salingeri. Eesti ja soome kirjanikest ma ei räägigi, isegi suuremad põhjamaad ei paista esindatud olevat... Ei viitsi järge ajada, kes ja mille põhjal nimekirja tegi, jõhker järeldus oleks Ameerikamaa kolledži (moodsa?) kirjanduse õppejõud oma parema äranägemise järele ja et oma tudengitest veidi lugenum välja paista, pani sinna ka antiikautoreid, keda tema vanakooli õppejõud temalt olid nõudnud.
